Self-portraits

We painted self-portraits. We looked carefully in the mirror at our different skin, hair and eye colours and experimented with colour mixing. We are learning to select colours for a specific purpose and to make darker and lighter shades of a colour. We also tried to control our paintbrushes carefully so that we were able to fill in the shapes that we had drawn. We are now enjoying spotting similarities and differences between ourselves and our friends.

Sports Day 2018

Sports Day took place in the penultimate week of the year. Inspite of the dry and hot conditions we managed very well to have some great races. Well done to everyone who took part including pre-schoolers and parents! Thank you to the junior school for letting us use their field, the Y6 childrenĀ for their help and Miss Capetti for all her organisation.

Theme Week

This week is our Farm Theme Week. The children have been rotating around the classrooms in mixed groups taking part in different farm themed activities. When the children visited the Reception classrooms they drew farm landscapes and coloured them in using oil pastels. Here are some photos of the wonderful artwork the children created.

Play Afternoon

Today we had our first ever play afternoon. We have been working hard over the year to improve our play provision for the children and today we had an afternoon full of amazing play opportunities for the children to show them that we recognise the importance of play at OPIS. There was a beach party, a nail bar, dressing up, bubbles and ball games, just to name a few of the activities that were going on!
